Rose Timber: Finding Her Voice Through Fashion, Culture, and Creative Expression
A Journey Back to Creativity
For Rose Timber, modeling is more than standing in front of a camera or walking a runway. It is an extension of a lifelong passion for creativity, performance, and self-expression. Based in California, Rose spent three years working as a software engineer before deciding to step away from the stability of a traditional career and pursue something that felt more meaningful. After leaving her position in June 2025, she began exploring creative opportunities through dancing, singing, social media, and collaborations with other artists.
Her introduction to modeling came unexpectedly through a dance studio audition. She was cast in the Flower Power Fashion Show in April 2026, hosted by Psycho Kitties and Queen Bee’s. What began as an opportunity to try something new quickly became a passion. Having spent years as a dancer, Rose found that modeling and runway performance offered another way to express her artistry. Since then, she has walked multiple fashion shows and discovered an entirely new creative community.
Fashion Through a Cultural Lens
Rose gravitates toward fashion, editorial, whimsical, and outdoor photography, particularly shoots that incorporate nature, movement, and imaginative concepts. As a proud half-Indonesian Muslim woman, she also finds deep meaning in incorporating her cultural background into her work.
Growing up in San Diego, Rose was connected to the Indonesian community, but as she got older, she wanted to explore her heritage beyond food and family traditions. Dance became one of her strongest connections. For the past three to four years, she has studied traditional Indonesian and Malaysian dance, performing at cultural events, including AWCLA’s Rhythms of ASEAN and the 2026 Muslim Global Village at the Indonesian Consulate in Los Angeles.
Today, she brings that same cultural expression into modeling through traditional batik fabrics, gowns, and movement inspired by her dance training. For Rose, wearing garments connected to her mother's culture creates a feeling of belonging and allows her to celebrate an important part of her identity.
Moments That Last a Lifetime
Although she has only been modeling for a year, Rose has already experienced several memorable milestones. Her first publication with LYBELL Magazine remains her greatest accomplishment. Receiving her first printed copy and unexpectedly turning to the page featuring her photograph was an unforgettable moment. She and her husband celebrated together, recognizing what that achievement represented after so much personal growth and creative effort.
Another particularly meaningful collaboration was an Old Hollywood-inspired vintage shoot with photographer Ron Flores. Wearing an emerald green satin dress, bright red lipstick, and side-swept hair, Rose saw something familiar in the photographs: the face of her grandmother, who was once a model herself and had attended a Dutch modeling school. It was a beautiful connection between generations.
Dreams Beyond the Camera
Looking ahead, Rose dreams of modeling during New York Fashion Week and immersing herself in New York's vibrant creative culture. However, one of her biggest ambitions is to create her own sustainable fashion brand, focusing exclusively on natural-fiber garments. She hopes to design clothing that makes sustainability, affordability, and personal style more accessible—and eventually model her own creations.
For Rose, this journey is about more than building a modeling portfolio. It is about discovering herself, honoring her heritage, and creating opportunities for others to see beauty in cultural expression. As she continues to explore the world of fashion, one thing remains certain: she intends to use her creativity not only to tell her own story, but to represent something bigger than herself.
Rose would also like to recognize and thank the photographers who have contributed to her journey: Keith Ayers, Dan Bucko, David Schneider, Hala PenYo, Soul Photographic (Ron Flores), Glenn Meader, Glenn Miller, Michael W, David Leung, Bobby Block Photography, and Light and Shadow Imagery (Tony).
