Seeing the World Through a Magical Lens: Meet Angel Breeden
From Animal Shelter Volunteer to Photographer
For Angel Breeden, photography began with a simple idea: better photographs might help animals find their forever homes. Seven years ago, a local animal shelter kept appearing on her social media feed, inspiring Angel to volunteer. Armed with only her cellphone, she began photographing the animals and creating imaginative themes—from barn animals and Halloween costumes to outer space adventures. She even gave a terminally ill dog a special birthday party.
People responded warmly to her creative photographs, and Angel believes her work may have helped some of the animals get adopted. Her family noticed her passion and eventually gifted her first camera, a Canon Rebel. That gift led her to photography classes at Lakeland Community College, where she discovered a new love: photographing people.
A Creative Eye Behind the Camera
Photography isn't Angel's full-time job. She is currently a full-time mom and student, while continuing to pursue her passion for creating imaginative images. Her camera of choice is the Sony a7III, paired with her favorite lens, the Sony 50mm. She prefers mirrorless cameras and enjoys photographing fantasy, fine art, animals—and, in her words, “bubbles haha.”
Her favorite shoot so far involved collaborating with fellow photographers in a rented rain room. With stick lights, fog machines, and plenty of good energy, they took turns photographing one another. The experience remains one of her favorite creative memories.
Dreams of Dark, Magical Worlds
If Angel could take her camera anywhere in the world, she would choose Bran Castle in Transylvania, Romania. Drawn to its eerie atmosphere, beauty, and history, she imagines creating a shoot featuring three female vampires around the castle, blending vampire imagery with the symbolism of the Triple Goddess.
Her dream celebrity subject would be Billie Eilish, whose dark, mysterious, playful personality and willingness to embrace unconventional concepts make her an exciting artistic inspiration. Angel is especially drawn to the creativity and visual eccentricity found in Eilish's music videos.
Nothing Is Ordinary
Angel's favorite animal is perhaps as unexpected as her photography: the Giant African snail. Above all, she loves seeing the world through a magical lens and helping others see it that way too.
“Nothing is ordinary if you have an imagination and a belief of fairies.”
Angel would also like to thank the models who have supported her creative journey: Taylor Kletcha, Porclainviolence, Danielle Waibz, Picanteamealia, and Chastity Melinoe.
For Angel Breeden, photography is more than taking pictures—it is an invitation to imagine a world where even the ordinary can become magical.
